- NAT
- Network Address Translation, a way of 'hiding' the IP addresses of the computers on a network from the Internet at large. This might be done for security or to avoid unnecessarily using up Internet IP addresses.
- needs analysis
- The primary stage of a training project where the definition of the criteria for success takes place. The competence level of the target audience and the gap between this and the proficiency needed is analysed.
- network analysis
- Also referred to as critical path analysis; this is the definition of the core tasks and the dependent tasks needed to complete the project. These are mapped out in a network diagram to show their relationship to each other. See critical path.
- news groups

- non-disclosure agreement
- A contract, usually brief, whereby one party agrees not to disclose information given to it by the other party. Usually known as an NDA.
- non-exclusive rights
- A licensing of rights that still allows licensing to other people.
- non-linear
- In audio-visual production, the use of a computer to edit digitized sound and/or vision. Synonymous with random-access.
- normalizing
- In audio, adjusting the volume of a digital audio file so that the loudest parts have a predetermined value, often 100%.
- NTSC
- National Television System(s) Committee, the analogue television standard used in North America and Japan, with 525 lines in a frame (of which 480 are visible) and approximately 30 frames per second. See also PAL/SECAM.
