At the start of the 1970s I presented a programme on BBC Radio London called Fresh Garbage, named after the track by Spirit.
This wasn't my first programme and wasn't my last, but it gained a following. This was partly due to my eclectic taste in music but also the contributions of musicologist John Tobler and the notorious Record Mart. In this listeners posted in cards asking if anyone had a copy of some rare LP to sell.
Fresh Garbage came off-air in October 1973, just after the programme was voted one of the top 10 radio shows by readers of Melody Maker.
This section of the web site hold a few playlists for Spotify users, of interesting tracks; many of which were part of my radio days. The menu above selects both the list but also a set of Tasting Notes to go along with the music. Enjoy!
